Welcome
Nunthorpe Nurseries began in 1989 when quality nursery care was very hard to find, child places were desperately short and waiting lists for baby places were as long as nine months. With a great deal of determination Ian Paul (the nursery owners) managed to purchase a building at Nunthorpe which over a period of over six months was transformed into a 35 place nursery. Customers were very impressed and within a short time the nursery became full and soon needed to be extended.
Nunthorpe Children's Day Nursery gained a reputation for quality and excellence which attracted the attention of I.C.I. who were searching nationally for an operator for their prestigious new nursery at Wilton Castle . It became apparent that Nunthorpe Nursery had the approach and hands on management skill which proved to be an important factor in securing the contract.
Within the next two years Nunthorpe Nurseries Group gained another two nurseries, one on Acklam Road Middlesbrough, the other at the T.A.D. Centre near Ormesby. With a growing reputation another nursery was opened in Billingham in 1994 bringing the number of establishments to five. In 1997 Teesdale Children's Day Nursery was opened at Teesdale Business Park at Thornaby in a brand new purpose designed building catering for 62 children.
In November 1998 Nunthorpe Nurseries purchased Minus Five's Day Nursery near Ingleby Barwick which was a purpose built nursery with an excellent reputation. More recently a new 82 place early years centre has opened at Nunthorpe incorporating an after school club and wrap around service. In 2005 we opened a prestigious 85 place nursery on MartonRoad, opposite the new James Cook hospital Two new additions to the group are a 51 place nursery Poppets situated in the grounds of park end primary school and Minnows a 78 place nursery at Brambles Farm.
This brings the nursery group to be the 20 th largest nursery chain in the country and the biggest provider of childcare in the North East with a total of 650 places. With a continuing commitment to providing quality childcare Nunthorpe Nurseries will endeavour to improve the standards of childcare into the millennium.

Title: Food issues
Article: Healthy eating.
Last year the BBC launched a series of programs called "Jamies Kitchen" featuring Jamie Oliver the well known chef from the Sainsburies adverts. The theme behind the programme was the generally low quality food being served at schools throughout the country, the root of this problem appeared to stem from home where children have become accustomed to eating this fast and highly processed rubbish and for whatever reason have not assimilated in their diets adequate amounts of fresh fruit and vegetables.
Whilst it is Human nature to take the easy option to give children what they are used to eating, we feel that as the younger children which we look after do not have the insight into what food is good or bad, it would be negligent of us to feed highly processed food to our children so we have decided to embrace Jamies policy by altering our menus at each nursery to minimise excess in sugars salts and additives offering as much fresh vegetables and fruit with food prepared on the premises each day. The difficult part is children which have highly proccessed food at home turn their noses up at "proper" food which we provide so it is also down to parents to take responsibility and give a bit of extra thought as to what food what is given in the name of convenience. We welcome any feedback or comments from parents and if any help is required about children's diets we would be happy to give advice on food preperation and menu planning. As a nursery group we are wholly endorse a meat free diet, with more and more parents waking up to the benefits to us all of a vegetarian diet, we continue to improve and give balanced meat free alternatives. We are also looking into removing msg foods from our kitchens and we have already removed drinks with (aspartame).See article below!!

Title: Leaflets
Article: FULL AREA LEAFLET DROP (ommission of terms and conditions woops!)
In a bid to lift our nurseries profile to new potential customers we have delivered leaflets to every home in the area with the offer of a free week of childcare to anyone booking a full time place. With an oversight on our part we did not put the terms and conditions of the offer on the leaflet so please accept our apologies for this.
To clarify the offer of a week free childcare just as with our normal policy a month fees have to be paid upfront to qualify for the free week, it is a very good offer!!

Title: ASPARTAME
Article: Aspartame is known amongst health addicts as "the sweet taste that kills" If you care about your childs health we insist you type aspartame into Google and see what comes up!!
Aspartame is an artificial sweetener 2000 times sweeter than sugar which is medically classified as an "excitotoxin" in laymans terms it means that it tricks your brain into thinking something tastes sweet by super stimulating cells in particular parts of the brain, this results in rapid expiry of the cell and eventually causes the cells to die, other side effects are headaches caused by dependency sensitivity to bright light and in some cases blindness, there are other far more reaching side effects which you would do well to check out yourselves.
Nearly everything with "diet" or "low/no sugar" almost certainly contain this poison, usually soft drinks are the worst culprits. Why is it in our food and drinks? Our research shows that Aspartame is included as a sugar alternative, the companies who produce this substance by the ton have dubious records as to how it passed the food and drugs administration.
Please draw up your own conclusions!
