Curriculum
Nunthorpe Nurseries follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) which covers children’s development and learning from birth to 5 years.this is the statutory standard provision for 0 th 5's and compliments the national standards for under 8’s daycare and child minding. The EYFS became statutory in September 2008.
The EYFS manifesto is all about bringing the most opportunity for all children, by giving them the chance to have the best possible start in life. The EYFS is designed to deliver improved outcomes for all children, across every area of learning and development.
We aim to offer the best environment available for children to learn and have fun at the same time, this is achieved through diligent staff and the chance for your child to explore the wonderful things available to them in complete safety. We do like to keep parents informed through regular development checks and photo/video evidence to back it up!
As each child is different, we value parental input to know the individuality expressed by each chils and often the parents learn some things themselves about their childs character, great fun and exciting times!!
We genuinely believe that the first years are the most important for your child and future progress is determined by thiis, almost like the foundation and first building blocks. We try to establish core values such as sharing manners and acceptable behaviour and it is important that the right environment is available for this learning opportunity so their full potential may be realised.
The goals set out by the EYFS are in fact expectations for most children to reach by the end of the Early Years Foundation Stage, (five years) They provide the basis for all planning throughout the Early Years Foundation Stage laying secure foundations from birth for future learning. There are prediminantly six areas of learning covered by the EYFS:
• Social and Emotional Development
• Communication skills, Language and Literacy
• Problem solving, Reasoning and Numeracy
• Knowledge and Understanding
• Physical Development
• Creative Development
The above criteria is met with pro-active staff trained to establish the balance between development and enjoyment in any given day
At Nunthorpe Nurseries we create a relaxed atmosphere where the children are able to express themselves through play and learning, most importantly at their own pace! We hope this instills confidence to each child nurturing areas which they may need extra help with. The children have to enjoy each day they spend with us.
